In a letter, 1858 October 25, to W. A. Whitman, Putnam discusses engraving plates for a series Whitman is collecting or producing. In a letter, 1860 January 14, to [Chiles?], Putnam forwards works on Washington Irving by Evert A. Duyckinck and George Washington Greene for Henry Coppée. He describes the only two unfavorable notices of Irving since he death, concerning his religion and pro English views, and answers both charges. In a letter, 1870 February 22, to John O[sborne?] Sargent, Putnam describes the organization of G. P. Putnam and Son and thanks Sargent for his purchase of one share.
